FAQs
Is there a dress code?
Our dress code is formal, or cocktail attire.
Ceilidh dancing can be quite lively, so we recommend nothing overly tight-fitting and, if you plan on wearing heels, bringing a pair of flat shoes to change into.
We kindly ask you to avoid white or ivory dresses.
Is there a theme or colour scheme?
There is no prescribed theme or colour scheme.
However, there is an optional colour scheme of dark greens and blues to match the wedding party.
Is there a registry?
We would be delighted with just your company on the day. We truly appreciate your presence, and there is sincerely no obligation or expectation to give a gift of any kind.
However, while gifts aren’t necessary, we know some of you would like to give one. Therefore, we have made a small registry on Prezola. We ask, if you do wish to provide a gift or charitable donation in our name, you use this list for convenience.
Can I bring a plus one?
Due to the size of the venue, we’ve had to limit the number of guests that can attend the ceremony. We kindly request that guests only bring a plus one if their invitation specifically includes their guest's name. If we receive cancellations, we may be able to extend plus one invitations to additional guests and will be in touch to let you know!
Are children invited?
We love your little ones, but we have decided to make our wedding an adults-only celebration. We hope you understand and can enjoy a well-deserved evening of celebration with us!
Where do I sit during the ceremony?
There are no assigned sides during the ceremony — sit where you want and make some friends!
We only ask that you keep the first few rows clear for immediate family.
Can I take photos during the ceremony?
We kindly ask you not to use phones during the ceremony. We would truly value everyone being in the moment during the ceremony, but you are of course welcome to take photos throughout the rest of the day.
We do have a professional photographer for the entire event and will share a full album with all guests.
I’ve never been to a ceilidh, what should I expect?
If this is your first ceilidh (pronounced kay-lee), don’t panic!
You can expect traditional Scottish music and dances. You don’t need to do any homework before the night — a caller will guide you through each dance, explaining the steps before the music starts. Ceilidhs are designed for everyone to take part, no prior experience needed. Whether you get all the steps right or not, we’d love you to just enjoy and have fun!
